I started making welder's caps for my son who is a welder. I looked everywhere for the pattern and finally drafted my own. It's amazing how people are so afraid to share.
If you are in need of the pattern do not send money to paragon hats. I sent them 14.00 over 8 months ago and never recieved a pattern.
They don't answer emails either.
Email me and I'll be happy to share.
After you get the pattern cut out it takes about 45 minutes to make a reversible cap.

I would love a copy of your pattern if you are still offering it! I have one that I use for my husband's beanies all the time (he has HUGE head and its hard to find any that fit), but now I have a request from a couple of his co-workers and I'm not great at scaling patterns down to other sizes. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this. When I started looking for patterns 13 years ago, they simply weren't available. I had to just take one that "almost" fit him, tear it apart, and make my own.

I would love for you to share your pattern and detailed instructions on how to make these welding caps in different sizes. I am a beginner and bought a pattern on ebay but the instructions are not very complete. They are for a person with sewing experience. i agree with you, anything to make a buck these days. My husband is a boilermaker and welds almost everyday. He has asked me to make him some caps. He even bought me a sewing machine for Christmas. I am anxious to get started but I need clearer instructions and a good pattern. Please send me your pattern and any tips, (especially how to keep sewing lines on a straight curve around the bill in the middle). Thank you for sharing. Anxiously waiting....lizzye71@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would really like to have a pattern for your weld caps! My boyfriend is a pipefitter and one of his fellow fitters' wives was making almost everyone in his trade weld caps, but she has recently stopped. We just got our sewing machine working again and I would like to learn how. I have little sewing experience but a lot of support, please email me the pattern, I've searched a lot for these patterns and I don't feel too good about sending my money to someone before I get any type of confirmation that I will actually receive a pattern. Thanks for sharing. Jessie.Christner@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI too would like a copy of your pattern as my husband has been after me since forever to start making his hats for him. Thank you for your kindness, Susanna. Email is teacherathgcs@gmail.com

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing. I am looking for pattern as well. My boyfriend's head is 26". Can you send me a pattern? I would really appreciate it. pde927@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi! I would love this pattern. Found one on internet but when went to print it the picture wouldn't print. I'm getting ready to tear one of my husbands ratty hats apart to make a pattern with it, but it would be so much nicer to not have to deal with that. Does your pattern account for different sizes? I need one for 24". Thanks a bunch.

My son is needing a new welding cap and is having a hard time finding one that fits as good as the one he has now. I don't want to take it apart. It's a 6 panel and laying it flat it measures 12 inches across band and is 7 inches from band to top. Does your pattern measure about the same? Thank you so much for sharing

I have a friend who is a welder and helped me with a project, saving me quite a bit of money! He said all he wanted was for me to make him a few caps since I sew. We often barter this way, but was having trouble finding a pattern that people agreed was great. I would love the pattern. Email: tdmdesigns@yahoo.com I appreciate it and am thrilled I found you on the web.
